It is one of the nation's leading media, entertainment and telecommunications companies. They operate in three segments: Telecommunications Services; Rainbow; and Madison Square Garden. The Telecommunications Services segment operates cable television business, including basic video, interactive digital video, high-speed data, voice over Internet protocol and residential telephone services operations, as well as the operations of the commercial telephone and high-speed data services.
 
The Rainbow segment consists mainly of interests in national and regional programming networks, the Madison Square Garden sports, and entertainment businesses, as well as cable television advertising sales companies. This segment owns and operates professional sports teams, principally the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association, the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, and the New York Liberty of the Women’s National Basketball Association and an entertainment business. It also operates sports and entertainment venues, such as the Madison Square Garden Arena, Radio City Music Hall, the Hartford Civic Center, and Rentschler Field.
 
Fourth quarter consolidated net revenue grew 12.5 percent to just under 1.5 billion dollars compared to the last years. Operating income for the quarter was 212.8 million dollars compared to a fourth quarter operating loss of 50.2 million dollars in 2004 and adjusted operating cash flow increased to 479.7 million dollars.
 
In 2005, consolidated net revenue was increased by 9.0 percent to 5.2 billion dollars. In 2005, operating income increased to 502.4 million dollars from 252.6 million dollars in 2004. The Board of Directors of Cablevision Systems Corporation declared a special cash dividend of 10.00 dollars per share on each outstanding share of its New York Group Class A Stock and New York Group Class B Stock.
