Cigna Corporation, through its subsidiaries, provides employee benefits offered through the workplace in the United States, Asia, and Europe. The company operates in two segments, Health Care, and Disability and Life. The Health Care segment offers various managed care, and indemnity products and services, including dental benefit plans, managed behavioral health care services and employee support programs, medical management and utilization management services, pharmacy programs and pharmaceutical fulfillment services and disability and life insurance products.



 


It also provides disability and life insurance products to employers, unions, government-sponsored programs, multiple employer groups, and other groups. Disability and Life segment provides long and short-term disability insurance, group life insurance, disability and workers’ compensation case management and accident and specialty insurance products. Cigna also offers personal accident insurance coverage, which consists primarily of accidental death and dismemberment, and travel accident insurance to employers.



 


The company offers corporate life insurance products, which include permanent life insurance contracts sold to corporations to provide coverage on the lives of certain of their employees. Its corporate life insurance products include universal life and variable universal life policies. Cigna also provides individual and group life, accident and health insurance, and health care products primarily in South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and Spain. As of December 31, 2004 Cigna’s medical health maintenance organizations networks included about 354,000 physicians and 3,100 hospitals.



 


Through its subsidiaries, the Company provides healthcare and related benefits offered through the workplace, including healthcare life and accident insurance, products and services group disability, and disability and workers' compensation case management and related services. Cigna's revenues are derived principally from premiums, fees, other revenues and investment income. The Company operates through five segments such as Health Care Disability and Life International Run-off Reinsurance, and Run-off Retirement.



 


As of December 31, 2005 the Shareholders' Equity is approximately 5.4 billion dollars and its Full-Year Revenues is approximately 16.7 billion dollars.
