Net income for the 52 weeks ended January 28, 2006 was 121.5 million dollars compared to net income of 17.6 million dollars for the 52 weeks ended January 29, 2005. Included in net income for the 52 weeks ended January 28, 2006 are pretax impairment charges of 61.7 million dollars.



Net sales for the 13 weeks ended January 28, 2006 were 2.338 billion dollars compared to sales for the 13 weeks ended January 29, 2005 of 2.304 billion dollars. Net sales increased 1percent in total stores for the 13-week period. Net sales in comparable stores increased 2percent for the 13-week period. Net sales for the 52 weeks ended January 28, 2006 were 7.560 billion dollars compared to sales for the 52 weeks ended January 29, 2005 of 7.529 billion dollars. Net sales were unaffected on a percentage basis for the 52-week period on both a total and comparable store basis.



Major part of Dillard's marketing philosophy remains based on Mr. Dillard's keen attention of day-to-day organizational details, sound selling methods, alert selection of personnel and hard work. Presently, the chain consists of around 330 stores spanning 29 states; all operating under the name Dillard's which today is one of the largest nameplates in fashion apparel retailing.
