Governor Perry Appoints Rosenberg and Newton to Finance Commission of Texas




 AUSTIN – Gov. Perry appointed Jonathan Bennett Newton of Houston and Stanley D. Rosenberg of San Antonio to the Finance Commission of Texas. The commission serves to ensure that banks, savings institutions, consumer credit grantors and other regulated entities chartered or licensed under state law operate as sound and responsible institutions that enhance the financial well-being of the citizens of Texas.
 
 Newton is a partner with Baker and McKenzie, L.L.P. practicing in public and private securities offerings and merger and acquisition transactions. He serves as hiring partner of the Houston office. He is a member of the Federalist Society, State Bar of Texas and Houston Bar Association. Newton received a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. His term will expire Feb. 1, 2010.
 
 Rosenberg is a senior partner with Loeffler, Tuggey, Pauerstein, Rosenthal, L.L.P., and formerly served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and on the Governor’s Planning Committee for the Bexar County area. He is endowment principal of the University of Texas at Austin, development board member for the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio, Director of the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital Endowment Foundation, and board member of the New Orleans Saints. Rosenberg is past director of Groos National Bank, and past chairman and trustee of the San Antonio Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and State Bar of Texas. Rosenberg received a bachelor's degree and law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. His term will expire Feb. 1, 2008.
