Fidelity Asset Manager Fund seeks high total return with reduced risk over the long term by allocating its assets among stocks, bonds, and short-term instruments. The fund normally invests around a neutral mix of 50 percent of assets in stocks (can range from 30-70 percent), 40 percent of assets in bonds (can range from 20-60 percent), and 10 percent of assets in short-term/money market instruments (can range from 0-50 percent).
 
Fidelity Balanced Fund seeks income and capital growth consistent with reasonable risk. The fund invests approximately 60 percent of assets in stocks and other equities and the remainder in bonds and other debt securities, including lower-quality debt securities, when its outlook is neutral. It invests at least 25 percent of total assets in fixed-income senior securities, including debt securities and preferred stock.
 
Fidelity Independence Fund seeks capital appreciation. The fund invests primarily in common stocks of domestic and foreign issuers. Its strategy may result in the realization of capital gains without considering the tax consequences to shareholders. The advisor is not constrained by any particular investment style and may invest in either growth stocks or value stocks or both, at any given time.
