It may also purchase fixed-income instruments if they provide a potential for capital appreciation. With regard to debt, the fund maintains no restrictions on credit quality; it may purchase debt upon which the issuer has defaulted. The fund normally invests in at least three countries. It may invest in illiquid or restricted securities.
 
First Eagle Gold Fund seeks growth of capital. The fund normally invests at least 65 percent of assets in securities issued by companies engaged in gold operations, including gold-mining finance companies. It may invest up to 35 percent of assets in equity and debt securities unrelated to the precious-metals industry. It may also invest up to 20 percent of assets in debt securities, including those rated below investment-grade. A substantial portion of the fund's assets may be invested in foreign securities.
 
First Eagle Overseas Fund seeks long-term capital growth. The fund primarily invests in equities of small- and mid-sized foreign companies in developed and emerging markets. These companies are characterized by financial strength, growth potential, stability, strong management, and fundamental value.
 
First Eagle U.S. Value Fund seeks long-term growth of capital. The fund invests at least 80 percent of assets in equities issued by small to medium sized U.S. corporations.
