Tenneco Inc. Formerly known as Tenneco Automotive Inc. The Group's principal activity is to manufacture automotive emissions control and ride control products and systems. Ride control products and systems include shock absorbers, struts, vibration control components, Kinetic roll control and advanced suspension systems.
 
They serves both original equipment manufacturers and replacement markets worldwide under various brands, including Monroe, Rancho and Fric Rot ride control and Walker and Gillet emissions control products. Major customers of the Group include Ford, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler and Volkswagen. On 02-Feb 2005, the Group acquired assets of Gabilan Manufacturing, Inc.
 
The company is a 4.4 billion dollars manufacturing company with headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois and approximately 19,000 employees worldwide. Tenneco is one of the world's largest designers, manufacturers and marketers of emission control and ride control products and systems for the automotive original equipment market and the aftermarket. The company markets its products principally under the Monroe, Walker, Gillet and Clevite Elastomer brand names. Mitsunobu Takeuchi is the director of Tenneco Automotive.
 
Tenneco Inc. closed Wednesday at a 52-week high after a Bank of America research note reported the company is bidding on 1.6 billion dollars of new business with General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. due to suppliers Delphi Corp. and Visteon Corp. exiting certain products. In addition to Wednesday's rise, its stock price rose 14 percent in 2005. Though it carries a high debt load, it has aftermarket business that carries better margins and new environmental regulations are creating demand for its emission products. 

Tenneco, which makes emission and ride-control systems, is in better shape than other suppliers. One of the world's leading suppliers of ride control and emission control components and systems, Tenneco also earned a PACE Award Honorable Mention for its Monroe Quick Strut the industry's first fully assembled strut for the automotive aftermarket that allows fast and easy replacement.
