News Corporation was founded in 1979 by Rupert Murdoch as a holding company for News Limited. It was created by Murdoch from the assets he inherited in 1952 following the death of his father, Sir Keith Murdoch, and successive development. The main asset left to him was ownership of the Adelaide News. It’s a publicly traded company having a good stock performance result. News Corporation is a fortune 500 stock listed company trading under NWS.

News Corporation is the world's leading publisher of English-language newspapers, with operations in the UK, Fiji, Australia, Papua New Guinea and the US. The Company publishes more than 175 different newspapers, employing around 15,000 people worldwide and printing more than 40 million papers a week.

Earnings release for the quarter ended December 31, 2005: Second quarter net earnings from affiliates were 160 million dollars versus 48 million dollars in the same period a year ago.  The improvement was primarily due to increased contributions from The Directv Group and BSkyB as a consequence of higher Dth subscribers and greater than before pricing, partially make up by the adverse force from foreign currency fluctuations at Sky Brasil. 
 
New York, NY, February 8, 2006 News Corporation reported second  quarter income  from continuing operations of 694 million dollars i.e. 0.21 dollars per share on a diluted combined basis1, as compared with 386 million dollars i.e. 0.13 dollars per share on a diluted combined basis1 which was reported in the second quarter a year ago. As of December 31, 2005  News Corporation had total assets of around 55 billion US dollars and total annual revenues of approximately 24 billion US dollars.
