The Williams Companies, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration, production, and transportation of natural gas, as well as power. The company operates in four segments namely Power, Gas Pipeline, Exploration and Production, and Midstream.
 
The power segment buys, sells, stores, and transports energy and energy related commodities, primarily power and natural gas in North America. It also owns 2 natural gas-fired electric generating plants located near Bloomfield, New Mexico and in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
 
Gas Pipeline segment sells natural gas to various customers, including local distribution companies, utilities, producers, industrials, and other gas marketers. It owns and operates approximately 14,600 miles of pipelines. It also holds interests in joint venture interstate and intrastate natural gas pipeline systems.
 
Exploration and Production segment produces, develops, and manages natural gas reserves primarily located in the Rocky Mountain and Mid Continent regions of the United States. It produces natural gas from tight-sands formations and coal bed methane reserves in the Piceance, San Juan, Powder River, Arkoma, Green River, and Fort Worth basins. 
 
Midstream segment engages in the gathering, treating, and processing of natural gas; natural gas liquids fractionation, producing ethylene and propylene, storage, and transportation; and oil transportation.
 
As of December 31, 2005, the company had total proved natural gas reserves of 3,382 billion cubic feet equivalents and 5,199 net producing wells. Approximately 12.6bl dollars sales have made as of 31st Dec 2005. They have earned 315.3 million dollars as income in the last 12 months.
