Steben & Company, Inc.

Advertising Information for financialbrowsers
Steben & Company is a member of NASD, the National Association of Securities Dealers. NASD is a self-regulatory organization of the securities industry responsible for the operation and regulation of the NASDQ stock market and over the counter markets. It also administrates exams for the investments professionals, such as the series of 7 exams.

Steben & Company, Inc. was founded in 1989 as an investment advisory firm specializing in managed futures. Utilizing over 16 years of experience they have acquired in the industry, the company provides financial advisors and institutional investors with the specialized expertise, advice and investment vehicles needed to understand, evaluate and access managed futures. There is a limited ability to liquidate an investment in a managed futures fund. Most, but not all, managed futures funds offer monthly redemptions. However, futures and forward markets can be illiquid or disrupted. Investors should be aware that they may be required to bear the financial risk of an investment for an indefinite period of time. There is no secondary market for an interest in a managed futures fund. Transfers of interests are subject to limitation. A fund’s manager may deny a transfer request if it determines that it may result in adverse legal or tax consequences for the fund.

Managed futures funds may trade foreign futures or options contracts. Trading that occurs on foreign exchanges could mean higher risk. Transactions on markets located outside of the United States may be subject to regulations that offer diminished protection to a fund and its participants. Forward transactions are not regulated and are subject to credit risk. A managed futures fund is a pool of investment dollars that is managed by one or more professional money managers that trade in the futures and currency forwards markets.  These professional money managers are referred to as Commodity Trading Advisors (CTA’s) due to the historical association of futures trading with physical commodities.  Currently, the trading of futures contracts is dominated by financial instruments, such as stock indices, interest rate instruments and currencies.

Managed futures represent a rapidly growing investment class labeled alternative investments.  Alternative investments have grown in popularity with both institutional and individual investors as a means of achieving greater portfolio diversification. A managed futures fund may provide investors with exposure to a variety of domestic and global trading instruments, international trading venues, and international time zones.  In addition, these markets allow for the use of leverage, which, if utilized, will increase the magnitude of realized and unrealized trading gains and losses.

The company has committed themselves to the success of the business, to the pursuit of excellence, to the safety of its client’s investments, and to providing industry leading quality of service to customers.
