Abacus Securities Corporation was founded in 1983 as Abacus Financial Corporation. It is a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Founded by Mary Ann Allen, Abacus was one of the first female owned and operated broker dealers appointed by the NASD in the country. It has 15 registered representatives and two staff members.

Their clearing firm, Saxony Securities, through its relationship with Pershing, backs up their important records in a geographically separate area. While every emergency situation poses unique problems based on external factors, such as time of day and the severity of the disruption, they have been advised by Pershing that its objective is to restore its own operations and be able to complete existing transactions and accept new transactions.
