Mcnamee Lawrence & Co.

McNamee Lawrence & Co. is a member of NASD, the National Association of Securities Dealers. NASD is a self-regulatory organization of the securities industry responsible for the operation and regulation of the NASDQ stock market and over the counter markets. It also administrates exams for the investments professionals, such as the series of 7 exams.

McNamee Lawrence & Co. was founded by Giles McNamee and Glover Lawrence in March 2002 to address the needs of mid market technology companies. With recent consolidation in the financial industry, many emerging growth companies are being ignored by the larger banks. In addition, many tech focused boutiques have either merged into larger banks or closed their doors due to unfavorable market conditions, leaving many technology companies without timely attention and quality advice when they need it most.

The Company operates at the intersection of strategy and finance. They focus first on technology domains, market trends, competitive pressures and corporate strategies; then, they think about the various transactions that make sense. In most cases, it takes a little creativity to find the right fit between companies and their investors and strategic partners. They look for sources of opportunity that others may have overlooked, and they generate a number of ideas to ensure that every transaction is well considered from all perspectives. They offer a wide range of services with which they have deep experience and for which they have proven to execute extremely well.

Collectively, their professionals have advised on more than 50 transactions, ranging in size from under $10 million to over $50 billion and exceeding $70 billion in aggregate value. Backed by domain expertise and a breadth of transaction experience, their professionals approach each assignment with creativity and an open mind. On the buy side, they know that the best transaction is often not the biggest transaction. Therefore, they structure their compensation to align their interests with their clients’ goals. In both cases, their goal is to build long term, productive relationships that transcend a particular transaction.

They believe that every project requires a custom approach. As such, they are sensitive to the internal and external dynamics of a particular project, and they craft their approach to the particular individuals, companies and markets involved. In most cases, they end up working with a variety of stakeholders, but they work most closely with management teams, boards of directors and entrepreneurs.
