O'keefe Shaw & Co., Inc is a member of NASD, the National Association of Securities Dealers. NASD is a self-regulatory organization of the securities industry responsible for the operation and regulation of the NASDQ stock market and over the counter markets. It also administrates exams for the investments professionals, such as the series of 7 exams.

O’Keefe Shaw & Co., Inc. began operations June 24, 1996, in Amherst, New York. The firm's president, Peter S. O’Keefe founded the firm after spending 16 years as a Financial Consultant with a Buffalo-based brokerage firm. At age 29, he became a partner of that firm. He continued as a Financial Consultant, and on June 1, 1993 became a director and the Secretary & Treasurer. Peter's desire to build his own organization was the primary motivation for establishing O'Keefe Shaw & Co., Inc. The company currently employs seven people, two of whom are financial consultants.
