The Company provides collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services for residential, commercial and industrial customers. Allied serve its customers through a network of 310 collection companies, 166 transfer stations, 169 active landfills and 57 recycling facilities in 129 markets within 37 states and Puerto Rico. The Company operates as a vertically integrated company, which entails picking up waste from businesses and residences and disposing of that waste in its own landfills. The Company’s 166 transfer stations are fundamental to their vertically integrated operations, as they improve their efficiency in collecting and transporting solid waste to recycling facilities and sanitary landfills. Allied Waste owns and operates 169 active landfills across the country, with an average remaining life of 30 years. Their professional landfill experts employ state of the art methods to maintain their landfills and protect their environment, while meeting or exceeding all federal, state and local regulations. They also provide customized consulting services for handling and disposing special non-hazardous wastes. 

 The company 58 recycling facilities offer waste handling and collection services and educational programs in certain markets. They recycle more than 1.7 million tons of recyclable commodities a year, including paper, glass and plastics and reusable construction debris.
