Autoliv Inc

Autoliv Inc is a fortune 500 stock listed company trading under the symbol ALV. The Company has a proven and good track record of its stock performance.

Autoliv was founded in 1956 with its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden. Autoliv, Inc., operates through its subsidiaries providing automotive safety systems to the automotive manufacturers worldwide. It engages in the development, manufacture, and supply of car occupant restraint systems, including seatbelts, seatbelt pretensioners, frontal airbags, side-impact airbags, steering wheels, and seat sub-systems. The company also designs, develops and manufactures airbag inflators, modules and airbag cushions, seatbelts, and steering wheels used in the driver, passenger, side-impact, and knee bolster airbag systems.

Autoliv has become the global leader in the 17 billion dollar automotive occupant restraint market. Frontal airbags account for 31 percent of that market, side airbags for 21 percent, seatbelts for 29 percent and electronics for 19 percent. Customers in Europe account for over 54 percent of Autoliv's sales, customers in North America for 26 percent customers in Japan for 9 percent and customers in the rest of the world for nearly 11%. The most important individual markets are the U.S., Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain and Sweden. Autoliv estimates its market shares to be about 50 percent with a higher market share for seatbelts than for airbags. The market share for steering wheels is close to 30 percent and almost 25 percent for safety electronics.

Autoliv's Total Safety Systemmeans that its safety products should be aimed at giving the best possible protection to anyoccupant in any type of collision without introducing any significant injury to anyoccupant in anyposition. This means that components and sub-systems have to be designed to interact with each other as one system. Seat belt pretensioners and frontal airbags, for instance, are tuned to each other via the same electronic control unit (ECU) to give the best possible protective effect, and the deployment of the frontal airbags should be adjusted depending on seat belt use.

Autoliv also offers its crash test services to external customers. Much of Autoliv's testing resources are widely used by vehicle manufacturers, auto suppliers, safety organizations, trade magazines, etc. This means that Autoliv's crash test specialists have the unique opportunity of gathering expert knowledge from a multitude of crash tests from a greater variety of vehicles than many experts working with a specific car manufacturer.

The Company has a strong tradition of leadership, service and contributions. The company’s mission is bringing comfort to customers, supporting business and commerce, and building strong communities.
