Major League Investments Announces Community Service Speaking Engagements by Michael Finer

As part of Major League Investment's ongoing community service programs, Michael Finer has spoken to many non-profit and for-profit groups regarding his military experiences during Hurricaine Katrina.

Salem, MA (PRWEB) November 30, 2005 -- As part of Major League Investment’s community service programs, we are pleased to announce that Michael Finer has agreed to speak to various non-profit and for-profit groups regarding his military experiences as part of Task Force Yankee in New Orleans. Mike Finer has recently made presentations to the Association of the First Corps of Cadets at its semiannual meeting in Boston, Mass. and to the Lower and Upper Schools at Shore Country Day in Beverly, Mass. Mike Finer has several other presentations scheduled to include a presentation to the Salvation Army Annual Luncheon in Boston, Mass. at the Park Plaza Hotel and to a local Cub Scouts pack.

Mike’s presentation focuses on community service to our country and includes 75 powerpoint slides and photos. His presentations typically last anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours. Mike is available to assist other organizations as his schedule permits.

Major Finer, who is the commander of the Massachusetts National Guard’s 181st Infantry Battalion, was the leader of Task Force Yankee, which was mobilized on September 3rd, 2005 for the purpose of providing humanitarian support, security, search and rescue operations to the citizens of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

As Commander, Major Finer led more than 500 soldiers and airmen in a 1,500 mile journey from Massachusetts to New Orleans with only enough supplies and equipment that they could carry on their backs and in about 10 vehicles.

During their deployment, the soldiers and airmen of Task Force Yankee assisted more than 2,600 citizens in their Civilian Assistance Center, rescued 200 pets, and evacuated approximately 150 citizens. Major Finer, who was partially responsible for rescuing a 71-year-old World War II veteran who had survived 18 days in his attic with no food and just a few jugs of drinking water, appeared on Good Morning America and was featured in The New York Times, Boston Herald, Worcester Telegram, and Swampscott Reporter.
