American Beacon


The American Beacon Funds are a series of low cost, no-load, open-end mutual funds designed to support a spectrum of investment objectives. The Funds include several portfolios spanning a variety of longer-range investments from international and domestic equity through balanced portfolios. They also include short term investment options including the Intermediate Bond Fund, the Short-Term Bond Fund and three money market funds.
 
The American Beacon Funds, with 16.2 billion dollars in assets under management as of December 31, 2005 were created in July 1987 by American Beacon Advisors, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of AMR Corporation.
 
The American Beacon Funds utilize a "manager of managers" approach for balanced and equity portfolios. American Beacon Advisors serves as the leader of a team of premier investment advisory firms, working closely with these sub-advisers and monitoring them for performance and strict adherence to investment style and guidelines. The American Beacon Intermediate Bond Fund is co-managed with Barrow Hanley Mewhinney & Strauss, Inc. and the Short-Term Bond Fund and three money market funds are managed solely by American Beacon Advisors.

American Beacon Emerging Mkts Inst, American Beacon Emerging Markets Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 80 percent of total assets in equity securities of issuers that are primarily listed on the trading market of an emerging market country; are headquartered in an emerging market country; or derive 50 percent or more of their revenues from, or have 50 percent or more of their assets in, an emerging market country.
 
American Beacon High Yield Bond Fund seeks high current income and capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 80 percent of assets in a diversified portfolio of domestic and foreign high yield bonds.
 
American Beacon Intermediate Bond Fund seeks income and capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 80 percent of assets in U.S. government obligations, corporate debt obligations, mortgage- and asset-backed securities, Yankee dollar and Eurodollar bank certificates of deposit, time deposits, bankers' acceptances, and other notes.
