The fund normally invests at least 65 percent of assets in equities issued by established, large capitalization companies. Investments may include common and preferred stocks, bonds convertible into common stocks, and warrants and rights. Management uses a value-oriented approach to select stocks, and seeks those that it judges to have low price/earnings ratios, strong balance sheets, high and or stable dividends, and low price/book ratios. The fund may also invest up to 10 percent in money-market instruments.
