Scudder State Tax-Free Income Series California Fund looks for current income exempt from federal and California income taxes. The fund normally invests at least 80percent of assets in investment-grade California municipal securities. The fund may engage in futures and options hedging strategies, which may produce taxable gains. This fund is non-diversified.
 
DWS Capital Growth looks for long-term growth. The fund normally invests at least 65percent of total assets in equities, mainly common stocks of U.S. companies. Although it can invest in companies of any size, it generally focuses on established companies with market values of 3 billion dollars or more. Management seeks individual companies that have displayed above-average earnings growth compared to other growth companies and that have strong product lines, effective management and leadership positions within core markets. 

Scudder Fixed Income Fund looks for income consistent with preservation of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80percent of assets in fixed-income securities. It may invest up to 20percent of its total assets in investment-grade fixed income securities rated within the fourth highest credit rating category. It may hold up to 20percent of its total assets in cash or money market instruments in order to maintain liquidity. The average weighted maturity typically ranges between five and 10 years.
