The SM&R Alger Aggressive Growth Fund seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 85 percent of assets in the equity securities of companies listed on U.S. exchanges or in the over-the-counter market. The fund advisor focuses on the equity securities of companies of any size that demonstrate promising growth potential.
 
The SM&R Alger Growth Fund seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 65 percent of assets in the equity securities of large companies listed on U.S. exchanges or in the over-the-counter market. The fund advisor focuses on the stock of growing companies that generally have broad product lines, markets, financial resources and depth of management. The fund considers a large company to have a market capitalization of 10 billion dollars or greater.
 
SM&R Alger Small-Cap seeks to achieve long-term capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 65 percent of total assets in the equity securities of small-capitalization companies listed on U.S. exchanges or in the over-the-counter market. The fund advisor focuses on small, fast-growing companies that offer innovative products, services or technologies to a rapidly expanding marketplace.
 
SM&R Equity Income Fund seeks current income; long-term capital appreciation is secondary. The fund invests primarily in common stocks, preferred stocks, and marketable-debt securities. The relative holdings vary according to market conditions, but the fund invests at least 50 percent of assets in equity securities. The fund may only purchase investment-grade corporate debt securities.
