The fund may invest up to 25 percent of assets in foreign debt, excluding American Depositary Receipts. It may invest in convertible and nonconvertible debt rated below investment-grade.
 
TCW Galileo Value Added Fund normally invests at least 65 percent of assets in the equity securities of companies with market capitalizations at the time of acquisition within the range of the companies comprising the Standard & Poor's Small Cap 600 index. The adviser attempts to invest in companies that are selling below probable liquidation values, net working capital or tangible book value. The fund is non-diversified.
 
TCW Galileo Opportunity Fund seeks capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 65 percent of assets in common stocks issued by companies with capitalizations of less than 1 billion dollars. It may invest in warrants, preferred stocks, convertible securities, and debt securities. The fund may invest up to 10 percent of assets in foreign securities, either directly or through American Depositary Receipts.
 
The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests at least 65 percent of the value of net assets in the equity securities of companies which are believed to have superior growth prospects. These equity securities include common and preferred stocks, convertible securities and rights or warrants to purchase common or preferred stock. The minimum initial investment is 2000 dollars with minimum subsequent investment of 250 dollars.
