As of March 4, 2005, the company had approximately 42,000 share holders of record of its common stock. In 2004, 2003 and 2002, they paid a dividend per share of 0.45, 0.40 and 0.05 dollars respectively, to holders of its common stock. The board of directors declared the dividend in November and they paid the dividend in December of each year. The payment of dividends on common stock is at the discretion of the company’s board of directors and is subject to customary limitations.



 


During the fourth quarter of 2004, they did not repurchase any of its common stock. At the end of year 2004, they had 384.3 thousand dollars available for purchases under its share repurchase program. In July 2003, the board of directors approved a share repurchase program of up to 250.0 million dollars. During 2003, they repurchased 12.7 million shares at a cost of 244.4 million dollars pursuant to this program.



 


In November 2003, the board of directors approved an increase to the share repurchase program of an additional 250.0 million dollars, bringing the total authorized repurchases to 500.0 million dollars. During 2004, they repurchased 14.7 million shares at a cost of 255.1 million dollars pursuant to this program.



 


Mr. Eckert is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer since May 2000. The Mattel vision is to be the world's premier toy brands today and tomorrow. Its share repurchase program has no expiration date.
