The company operates in more than 20 states, although most of its facilities are located primarily in the Sun Belt. The hospital giant's HCA International operates 8 hospitals in Switzerland and the UK.HCA owns and operates approximately 182 hospitals and approximately 94 freestanding surgery centers in 22 states, England and Switzerland.

They are dedicated to provide healthcare services that meet each community's local healthcare needs. They seek to integrate various services to deliver patient care with maximum quality and efficiency. The approach includes focusing on quality; streamlining operations; sharing technology, equipment and personnel where appropriate; and using economies of scale when contracting for medical supplies and administrative services.

HCA's Board of Directors has approved a 13 percent increase in the Company's quarterly dividend from 0.15 dollars per share to 0.17 per share dollars. Net income for the fourth quarter of 2005 was 325 million dollars, compared to 322 million dollars in the previous year's 4 quarter. Financial results for the 4 quarter of 2005 include a pretax gain on the sale of facilities of 49 million dollars, and a reduction in the Company's estimated professional liability insurance reserves of 47 million dollars.

During the 4 quarter of 2005, the Company also incurred additional expenses of approximately 27 million dollars, associated with noninsured costs related to its facilities that were affected by hurricanes. These costs include an increase in the reserve for doubtful accounts of 7 million dollars for uninsured patient accounts receivable related to their New Orleans market facilities.

Today, the Company reiterated its prior earnings guidance for 2006 in a range of 3.25 dollars to 3.45 dollars per diluted share.
