Hughes Supply achieved outstanding financial results in scale year 2005, far exceeding the targets established at the start of the year. Spurred by a stronger commercial construction market than they had seen in the previous 3 years, a continuation of robust residential construction, higher commodity prices and three strategic acquisitions, sales reached a record 4.4 billion dollar, an increase of 1.2 billion dollar, or 36 percent over scale year 2004. Organic sales growth of 16 percent was the highest in the company’s history with nearly all of their businesses reporting double-digit growth.

Their net income grew to a record 123 million dollar, a 114 percent improvement, resulting in diluted earnings per share growth of 59 percent to 1.95 dollar. The strength of their operations and strict focus on working capital efficiency resulted in operating cashew of 145 million dollar. Rejecting their strong financial performance, our share price finished the scale year at 30.38 dollar, a 12-month increase of 23 percent, significantly outperforming the major market indices and many of their peer companies.
