Pathmark Stores, Inc. reported unaudited results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended January 28, 2006.The sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 were 993.3 million dollars, a decrease of 0.4 percent from 996.8 million dollars in the prior year’s fourth quarter. Same-store sales decreased 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005. The Company reported a net loss of 14.6 million dollars, or 0.28 percent per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2005 compared to a net loss of 301.6 million dollars, or 10.03 dollars per diluted share, in the prior year’s fourth quarter.
For third quarter sales for the third quarter of fiscal 2005 were 980.5 million dollars, an increase of 0.1 percent from 979.9 million dollars in the prior year’s third quarter. Same-store sales decreased 0.6 percent in the third quarter. The Company reported a net loss of 18.3 million dollars, or 0.36 dollars per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2005 compared to a net loss of 3.6 million dollars, or 0.12 dollars per diluted share, in the prior year’s third quarter.
This new company would provide a path for easy, one-stop shopping, and be the mark of one of the most successful supermarket retailers in the United States.
