NEW YORK General Dynamics ranks no. 100 on this year's list of the FORTUNE 500, with 21,290 million dollars in revenues, up 8.9 percent from the previous year. March 31, General Dynamics Corp. gave its chief executive a 42 percent pay raise for 2005 including restricted stock worth more than 5 million dollars, as the defense contractor reported sharply higher profit amid strong U.S. defense spending.

The year before Chabraja, who has been General Dynamics CEO since 1997, got 1.25 million dollars salary, 2.7 million dollars bonus and restricted stock worth 2.7 million dollars. The pay raise comes as General Dynamics' business is booming, on strong demand for its tanks and land fighting systems for use by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and continued high spending by the Pentagon on all types of weapons systems.
 
Last year General Dynamics reported net income of 1.46 billion dollars, up 19 percent from the year before. Revenue rose 11 percent to 21.1 billion dollars. General Dynamics' stock rose 9 percent in 2005 and is up a further 13 percent so far this year hitting an all-time high last week. Its shares were down 23 cents at 64.03 dollars on Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.
