The SoCalGas segment operates a natural gas distribution utility, serving customers throughout southern California and a part of central California.
 
The Sempra Commodities segment markets and trades physical and financial commodity products, including natural gas, power, petroleum products, and base metals. It also involves in commodity sales on a retail basis to electricity and natural gas consumers. The Sempra Generation segment primarily owns and operates power plants throughout the United States and Mexico, and also provides energy and facilities management services. It also owns mineral rights in properties that produce petroleum and natural gas.
 
The company develops and owns natural gas pipelines and storage facilities in the United States and Mexico, as well as holds interests in companies that provide natural gas or electricity services to customers in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and Peru and owns natural gas distribution utilities in the eastern United States.
 
The company holds investments in tax-advantaged limited partnerships, which own roughly 1,300 housing properties throughout the United States. Sempra primary serves residential and small commercial and industrial customers, as well as electric generation, large commercial, wholesale, industrial, and enhanced oil recovery customers. It also develops receipt terminals for importing LNG and supplies natural gas to government-owned electric utility.
