Nisource is an energy holding company whose subsidiaries provide natural gas, electricity and other products and services to approximately 3.8 million customers located within a corridor that runs from the Gulf Coast through the Midwest to New England. NiSource’s business segments are Gas Distribution Operations; Gas Transmission and Storage Operations; Electric Operations; and Other Operations.

The Company continues to remain focused on the four key elements of its growth strategy: expansion and commercial growth in the pipeline and storage business; regulatory and commercial initiatives; management of the balance sheet; and expense management.

The highlights from 2005 were Hardy Storage Project in West Virginia which received its FERC certificate in November and is on track to begin storage injections by spring of 2007, Millennium Pipeline announced in August that it had signed Consolidated Edison and KeySpan as anchor customers.

Columbia Gas Transmission’s Eastern Market Expansion is moving forward to a 2009 in-service date, Bay State Gas Company received an 11.1 million dollars annual rate increase, NiSource finalized the refinancing of 2.4 billion dollars in long-term debt that will yield approximately 43 million dollars in annual interest expense savings beginning in 2006 and NiSource signed a 10 year outsourcing agreement with IBM that will deliver upwards of 530 million dollars in operating and capital cost savings.

NI is the main energy source for resourceful Americans living in the Gulf Coast, the Midwest, and New England. The company's utility subsidiaries distribute natural gas to about 3.7 million customers. NI also generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to some 440,000 customers and natural gas to 770,000 customers in its home state through its largest subsidiary, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO).
 
NiSource owns one of the largest natural gas transmission and underground storage systems in the US, including a 16,000-mile pipeline system.
