Wendy's International Inc. is a publicly traded company with a good stock performance result. Wendy's International Inc. is also fortune 500 stock listed company trading under the symbol WEN on the New York Stock Exchange. Wendy’s International was founded by Dave Thomas in 1969 and the company is based in Dublin, Ohio.
 
Wendy's International, Inc. and its subsidiaries engage in the operation, development, and franchising of a system of quick service and fast casual restaurants in the United States, Canada, and internationally. As of January 01, 2006, Wendy's International operated 2,885 Tim Hortons restaurants, 299 Baja Fresh restaurants, and 19 Cafe Express restaurants. We are an Enterprise with more than 9,900 restaurants and three quality brands – Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, Tim Hortons and Baja Fresh MexicanGrill. We also have made investments in two other restaurant chains – Cafe Express and Pasta Pomodoro.
 
Wendy's serves the best hamburgers in the business, made with fresh beef hot-off-the-grill and a choice of toppings. We also serve chicken sandwiches, fries, Frostys, soft drinks, and a variety of fresh, healthful foods - garden salads, grilled chicken sandwiches, baked potatoes, and chili.
 
The Company’s 2005 full-year pretax income was 338.1 million dollars and the net income was 224.1 million dollars and reported diluted earnings per share (EPS) were 1.92 dollars. These results compare to 2004 full-year pretax income of 184.1 million dollars net income of 52.0 million dollars and reported EPS of 0.45 dollar. The 2004 results include the impact of a 190.0 million dollars pretax goodwill impairment charge at Baja Fresh, a 21.7 million dollars pretax charge for market impairments and store closings at Baja Fresh and a non-cash pretax charge of 9.1 million dollars for a lease accounting correction.
 
The Company’s annual dividend rate increased from 0.54 to 0.68 dollar beginning with the dividend paid on November 21, 2005. The Company increased its targeted dividend payout ratio during 2005 to a range of 23 percent to 27 percent which is  up from its previous range of 18 percent to 22 percent.
