Northwest Airlines Corp. was established in 1926 by Lewis Brittin with it’s headquarter in Eagan, Minnesota. It’s a publicly traded company having a good stock performance result. Northwest Airlines Corporation, through its subsidiary, Northwest Airlines, Inc., engages in the commercial transportation of passengers and cargo. It directly serves approximately 900 cities in 160 countries in six continents and operates domestic and international route networks.
 
The company’s subsidiary, MLT, Inc., is a vacation wholesale company that develops and markets Worry-Free Vacations, which features air transportation, hotel accommodations, and car rentals; markets and supports Northwest’s World Vacation packages; and offers leisure time fares to various domestic and international destinations. In addition, through its subsidiary, Orbitz, Inc., the company allows travelers to purchase airline, car rental, hotel and other travel related services online. It has domestic and international alliances with Continental Airlines, Inc. and Delta Air Lines, Inc.

Northwest Airlines is the world’s fifth largest airline with hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Tokyo and Amsterdam, and around 1,200 daily departures. Northwest is a member of SkyTeam, an airline alliance that offers customers one of the world’s most wide global networks. Northwest and its travel partners serve more than 900 cities in excess of 160 countries on six continents.

Northwest Airlines has announced a system wide March load factor of 87.1 percent, 2.5 points above March 2005. Northwest flew 6.43 billion revenue passenger miles and 7.38 billion available seat miles in March 2006, a traffic decrease of 6.1 percent and a capacity decrease of 8.8 percent versus March 2005.
