It also offers wholesale electric power, capacity, and ancillary services in the wholesale markets; and supplies electricity to other wholesale market participants under long-term bilateral contracts. As of December 31, 2005, the company delivered approximately 27,594,000 megawatt hours of electricity to approximately 747,000 customers.
 
Pepco Holdings, Inc is a diversified energy company that, through its operating subsidiaries, is engaged in 3 principle areas of business operations namely regulated electricity and natural gas delivery; competitive energy generation, marketing and supply, and other activities consisting primarily of investments in energy-related assets. The principle component business is power delivery, which consists of the transmission and distribution of electricity and the distribution of natural gas.

The power delivery business is conducted by its subsidiaries Potomac Electric Power Com, Delmarva Power & Light Company and Atlantic City Electric Company. The competitive energy business provides non-regulated generation, marketing and supply of electricity and gas, and related energy management services in the mid-Atlantic region. The non-regulated business component is conducted through its subsidiaries Potomac Capital Investment Corporation and Pepco Communications, Inc.
