Wisconsin Energy Corporation provides electric and natural gas service for customers in Wisconsin and Michigan. through its subsidiaries. It operates in two segments, Utility Energy and Nonutility Energy. The Utility Energy segment generates and distributes electric energy in a territory in southeastern, east central, and northern Wisconsin and in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, as well as in a territory in the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Nonutility Energy segment engages principally in the design, construction, ownership and leasing of electric power generating facilities and to invest in other energy-related entities. 
 
Their non-utility businesses include recycling and renewable energy, and real estate development. They have more than 10 billion dollars in assets, 5,300 employees and approximately 56,000 stockholders of record. In addition, the company develops and invests in real estate. As of 31 December, 2005, the company served approximately 1,115,300 electric customers, 1029700 gas customers, 460 steam customers, and 2,800 water customers.
 
Quarterly dividend rate was increased from 0.22 to 0.23 dollar per share in the first quarter of 2006. Wisconsin Energy Corp. achieved adjusted earnings from continuing operations of 2.42 per share and the dividend on common stock raised by 4.8 percent in 2005.
Earnings from continuing operations totaled 304 million dollars or 2.56 dollars a share for 2005. On a comparable basis in 2004, earnings were 220 million dollars or 1.84 per share. Wisconsin Energy stock continued to gain in value last year, trading at an all-time high of 40.83 dollars a share on October 4. The stock closed the year above 39 dollars a share – up more than 15 percent from year-end 2004. And over the past six years, Wisconsin Energy stock has outperformed the S & P 500 and our peer group of 30 utilities across the United States.
