NASD is a self regulatory organization of the securities industry responsible for the operation and regulation of the NASDQ stock market and over the counter markets. The company’s policy is to respond to a Significant Business Disruptions by safeguarding employees’ lives and firm property, making a financial and operational assessment, quickly recovering and resuming operations, protecting all of the firm’s books and records, and allowing their customers to transact business.
They assure customers prompt access to their funds and securities. Their plan anticipates two kinds of disruptions, internal and external. Internal affects only their firm’s ability to communicate and do business. External prevents the operation of the securities markets or a number of firms, such as a terrorist attack, a city flood, or a wide-scale, regional disruption.
They maintain copies of its business continuity plan and the annual reviews, and the changes that have been made to it for inspection. They have also given NASD, NY a copy of their plan.
Their firm conducts business in equity, fixed income, and derivative securities. Their firm is an introducing firm and does not perform any type of clearing function for itself or others. They do not hold customer funds or securities. All transactions are sent to their clearing firm, which compares them, allocates them, clears and settles them.
The organization does not maintain custody of customers’ funds or securities, which are maintained at their clearing firm, ADP Clearing. Their clearing firm also maintains their customers’ accounts, can grant customers access to them, and delivers funds and securities. Their firm services only retail customers.
Their mission is to ensure that prompt and accurate processing of securities transactions, including order taking, entry, execution, comparison, allocation, the maintenance of customer accounts, access to customer accounts and the delivery of funds and securities.
