Northeast Investors Trust is managed by its Trustees. Northeast Investors Growth Fund is managed by Northeast Management & Research Company, Inc. As the investment manager, NMR is responsible for choosing the Fund’s investments and handling the general affairs of the Fund. NMR is subject to the general supervision of the Fund’s Trustees.
 
NMR is a corporation organized in July, 1980 to manage the Fund. William A. Oates, Jr., is the President and has been principally responsible for its day to day management. Mr. Oates has been the portfolio manager since the Fund’s inception in 1980. He is assisted in his portfolio manager’s responsibilities by Gordon C. Barrett, the Chief Financial Officer.The Trust invests primarily in marketable securities of established companies which the Trustees believe provide reasonable income and which, where consistent with this objective, may have potential for capital appreciation. This would include bonds which may be purchased at a discount or premium, preferred stocks, common stocks paying dividends, securities convertible into common stocks and securities with warrants attached.
 
The Fund maintains a flexible investment policy which primarily targets common stocks of large companies who are established leaders in their industries with histories of consistent earnings growth. The Fund emphasizes well-known companies which it believes to have strong management and solid financial fundamentals. These companies offer the potential for accelerated earnings and revenue growth.
 
The investment policy allows the Fund to achieve its objective through the purchase of common stocks of both domestic and foreign issuers. The Fund may also invest in securities convertible into common stocks, preferred stocks, corporate bonds, warrants or money market instruments.
 
Northeast Investment Management was established to meet the growing need for highly personalized investment management for individuals and families. Northeast also furnishes investment advice to select institutions and to other fiduciaries, including trustees of charitable endowment funds. The firm was designed to provide more personal attention by its senior officers and greater continuity of personnel than banks, trust companies and larger investment advisors can offer.
