Newport Capital, Inc. is an alternative investment group specializing in emerging private equity fund research, due diligence, development, and consulting and separate account fund of funds management. The firm began operating in 1995 as a research and review, evaluation and due diligence, development & placement agent firm focused primarily on the emerging alternative investment fund industry.
Since their inception, they have focused on this segment of the alternatives industry where few institutions and industry experts focused on emerging alternative funds. This decision was made for two reasons 1 less competition for quality deal flow; and 2 lack of institutional coverage. Newport Capital has been providing emerging alternative fund research, review, evaluation, due diligence and consulting services to institutions over the years, both on a formal and informal basis, primarily as a consultant and sub-advisor making recommendations and giving input on the emerging private equity marketplace and managers. These services include the tactical and strategic analysis, evaluation, assessment, portfolio and performance measurement and data and database collection on emerging and mainstream private equity markets, managers and portfolios. They provided and continue to provide these services on a consulting, sub-advisory and investment management basis. Today, Newport Capital provides emerging alternative fund research, review, due diligence and consulting services to 114 institutions on a sub-advisory consulting basis.
Newport Capital offers prospective clients two fund-of-funds investment management programs. The first is an Emerging Private Equity Fund of Funds Separate Account Investment Management Program for those institutions looking to get exposure to this segment of the alternatives asset class, to diversify their alternatives portfolios and to capture the value, return and multiple opportunities that exist in the emerging private equity fund industry. With this type of program there are only one institutional investor and one LP, with Newport serving as the GP. The advantage of this type of separate account program is they can design each strategy and portfolio specifically to meet the needs, objectives and risk parameters of that individual institutional investor.
