Kenmar Securities Inc.is a member of NASD, the National Association of Securities Dealers. NASD is a self-regulatory organization of the securities industry responsible for the operation and regulation of the NASDQ stock market and over the counter markets. It also administrates exams for the investments professionals, such as the series of 7 exams.
The Kenmar group of companies is comprised of several US and non-US companies Kenmar, each of which is owned equally and in total, directly or indirectly, by Marc S. Goodman and Kenneth A. Shewer. Messrs. Goodman and Shewer have served as Co-Chief Executive Officers and Co-Chief Investment Officers of Kenmar since they founded the firm in 1983.
During the firm's first decade of operation, Kenmar specialized in managed futures. As the line between futures funds and traditional hedge funds blurred, and as global financial markets and investment opportunities expanded exponentially, their expertise evolved and broadened. Today, the firm offers a broad array of investment products and services.
Their Investment Committee is a senior level group, broadly responsible for the portfolio allocation decisions and manager selection. Meetings are held on a weekly basis between the Investment Committee and the Research Risk Management Group to debate and discuss the global investment environment, specific investment strategies being considered and the sources of risk and return of the different managers and strategies within the portfolios that they manage.
They meet regularly and incorporate information gleaned from the broader meetings into the portfolio construction process. The Investment Committee is comprised of Kenmar senior investment professionals, each with extensive investment experience.
An in depth statistical analysis of performance is an essential part of the analytical process. This includes an evaluation of the manager’s performance characteristics on an absolute basis, relative to both its peers and to various indices. Particular attention is paid to performance and portfolio holdings during periods of market stress.
